What Is Remote Online Notarization?
Remote online notarization is the act of performing a notarization remotely using two-way audio-video technology. It is the online equivalent of an in-person, paper-based notarization where every part of the process is done via the internet. There must be an audio visual provider or platform between the signer and the remote online notary.
A remote notary is a legally commissioned notary public who is authorized to conduct notarizations over the internet via digital tools and a live audio video call. All notaries, no matter how they perform their service, must watch as someone signs a document if it has to be notarized.
Approved in Indiana & Nationwide
Nearly all states in the United States have approved Remote Online Notarization (RON), including Indiana State — of which I am a certified Remote Online Notary.
The Secretary of State of Indiana has approved 18 audio visual providers, some of which are Proof (Notarize), NotaryCam, Nexsys (Rocket Close) and Pravaso.
